Project 1 Autumn/WinterObservation

This is a graphic representation of my findings in Northcote, a northern suburb of Melbourne. During my research, I became particularly intrigued by the intricate and textured tile patterns adorning the shop fronts along High Street. I captured many of these patterns with my camera and used them as the main inspiration for my publication. In addition, I discovered interesting shapes from various sources such as road pavements, footpaths, street light fittings, windows, and signage.

Project 2SpringChrome Reader

The proliferation of misinformation has become a significant societal concern for those who engage with the Internet. This redesigned Chrome reader seeks to amplify and simulate the sensation of being inundated with vast amounts of digital content. Written and audio articles are presented side by side in a horizontal format, aiming to replicate the feeling of being immersed in personalised wormholes crafted by algorithms.

Project 3 SpringOriginal Typeface

Bread+Butter is a typeface that pushes the boundaries of experimentation, drawing inspiration from an image discovered in a typography archive. The image features an old milk carton that uses the Gills Yako typeface, which heavily influences Bread+Butter. This typeface features weighty characteristics and distinctive arches throughout the lettering, reminiscent of typography commonly used in 1970s shopping signage and packaging.

Project 5SpringWormholes and Hypertexts

This website is designed as an interactive "choose your own adventure" experience, where users can explore different links within the articles to navigate to different pages. The website's theme draws inspiration from a Wikipedia article about a 10-day long traffic jam that occurred in China in 2010. The concept is to create a sense of increasing unfamiliarity and strangeness as users venture further away from the city through the website's content.

Project 6AutumnVisual Music

The motion video I created using Adobe After Effects. The brief was linking sounds with visuals as an introduction into the art of motion graphics.
Project 7SpringRevitalised Typeface

Fresh Rubezahl is a modernised rendition of a historic typeface originally designed in 1906. This typeface was digitally revived using robofont, based on a single type specimen that did not include all the lettering. As a result, some of the missing letters had to be meticulously recreated from the existing ones.
